A Hayagriva Phurba is a sacred Tibetan Buddhist ritual tool that combines the wrathful deity Hayagriva with the traditional phurba dagger. This ritual object is used to conquer negative energies and evil forces, and its design often features symbols of wrathful deities like Hayagriva (identified by a horse head), the vajra (representing wisdom and power), and the dagger itself.
The Purbha is probably the most exotically evocative of Vajrayana Buddhist symbols. Unlike the well-known Bell and Vajra, which are sacred and special — and represent wisdom and compassion repspectively; the Phurba is the implement of “activity” — specifically the Karma family or Activity family.
